Have you heard of Grandvalira’s special ski circuits? They are a series of itineraries, differentiated by level and discipline, designed to explore the slopes in a different way and at the same time be a real challenge. We’ll tell you about them here.
Fun Cross ski circuits
The little skiers will test their skills on the boards with lots of curves, jumps, turns and tunnels. As well as having a great time, they will gain agility and experience with 5 different circuits specially created for this purpose.
The Fun Cross circuits are spread over the El Tarter and Soldeu sectors.
For beginners there is the Marmota Fun Cross, at the foot of Soldeu ski slopes, with a length of 332 metres and 25 metres of vertical drop. The Òliba Fun Cross is also in this area and is for more experienced skiers, with a blue level. On the other hand, to ski the Astor Fun Cross Ride you need a very high level to be able to overcome its obstacles.
In El Tater, the resort offers the Guineu Fun Cross circuit, with a ride of 880 m. and 165 m. of vertical drop on red pistes. And finally, the Ós Fun Cross Ride for very experienced children who can enjoy the longest circuit with a length of 490 m. and 175 m. of vertical drop.
Easy Way, Fun Way and Skimo Way ski circuits
Following these circuits is another way of discovering the resort. To complete them you need to have a minimum level of skiing, as you’ll be following medium/high level pistes. They are also ideal for families. The circuits are in the Grau Roig, Pas de la Casa and Encamp sectors.
– Easy Way
This ski circuit crosses 6 blue pistes and 8 lifts. You should estimate an approximate duration of 4 hours to complete it.
– Fun Way
This route requires a higher level of skiing, as it only runs along red pistes. It lasts between 3 to 5 hours depending on how you choose the 11 pistes and 10 lifts. The effort will be well worth it as it will take you to discover the most unique places in the resort.
– Skimo Way
In this case we change the equipment from alpine skiing to ski mountaineering. It is a route that runs through emblematic points of the resort linking Pas de la Casa with Encamp and is suitable for all levels.
How to get to the slopes from the apartments?
El Peretol is the closest sector to Els Llacs Mountain Apartments. Located in Bordes de Envalira, it gives access to the slopes via the Pla de Pedres chairlift. In this area of the resort you will find a car park with limited spaces and also a free shuttle service for guests staying at Bordes de Envalira, which runs every 20 minutes when the slopes are open. You can consult the timetables here.
Tips for skiing in Andorra
Some of the circuits require a good level of skiing to enjoy the harder slopes. To enjoy a full and safe experience, start gradually on simpler routes. Each one is duly signposted with the corresponding level: the green runs are the easiest, followed by the blue ones, which are intermediate, the medium-high level red ones and the black ones, reserved for the most experienced skiers.
If you are new to skiing, we recommend that you take some lessons. The resort has ski schools in all sectors. Starting with an instructor will allow you to acquire technique and good practice from the first moment you step on the boards. You can book individual or group courses in alpine skiing, snowboarding or ski mountaineering, both for adults and children.
