Here are five Andorran villages that are ideal for exploring in autumn with your dog.

Tradition and walks among stone houses

Ordino is one of the most characterful villages in the Principality. Walking through its old town with your dog is like stepping into a history book, with its well-preserved stone houses and narrow streets. The most interesting thing to do in autumn is to combine an urban stroll with an easy walk along the Camí Ral, an old path that connects Ordino with Andorra la Vella. The section near the river has benches and spaces where your dog can rest while you watch the leaves fall and cover the ground like a carpet. Ordino is a perfect destination for those seeking peace and nature just a stone’s throw from the town centre.

A village with routes designed for travelling with dogs in Andorra

Canillo is much more than just the gateway to Grandvalira. In autumn, its quiet streets and surroundings are filled with golden and reddish tones that invite you to take a stroll. If you are travelling with your pet, we recommend two plans:

  • The path to the Sanctuary of Meritxell, accessible and with views of the valley, ideal for a relaxed stroll.
  • The centre of Canillo, where you can set off on short urban routes along the river and stop for a coffee at a pet-friendly terrace.

Pal and its autumn viewpoints

This small mountain village is located in the parish of La Massana and is known for its Romanesque architecture and the church of Sant Climent. And in autumn it has even more charm. Strolling through the historic centre with your dog is pleasant, as there is practically no traffic and the streets are surrounded by mountains that change colour with the season.
Nearby, you’ll find paths leading to viewpoints overlooking the forest-covered valleys. One of the most recommended is the path to Coll de la Botella, where the autumn colours paint an ideal landscape for taking photos with your pet as the star.

Gentle routes and local atmosphere

If you enjoy travelling with your dog in Andorra and are looking for a small, authentic place, Auvinyà is the perfect choice. This small mountain village, located above Sant Julià de Lòria, combines stone houses with an enviable natural environment. Strolling through its quiet streets conveys a sense of calm, and from almost every corner there are views of the valley that make the walk a unique experience. Walking with your dog here is easy and enjoyable, far from the hustle and bustle.

Walks through history and along paths

Les Bons is a small hamlet in Encamp. It is perfect for those travelling with their dog in Andorra in autumn and want to combine history and nature in the same walk. Its cobbled streets preserve a medieval historical complex with towers, a Romanesque church and old houses that convey the character of the place.

From routes for those who like to go out and test themselves on the most complicated slopes to those who prefer a more leisurely walk. Both options have one thing in common: wherever you go, you’ll enjoy the surroundings.

They are ideal for enjoying nature effortlessly and ensuring your dog is comfortable and safe. Don’t leave anyone at home and experience unforgettable moments with your faithful friend in these beautiful landscapes!

Trekking to l’Estany Primer de Pessons

The first excursion is near Els Llacs Mountain Apartments, in the Grau Roig sector of Grandvalira. It is a good option for an easy hike with your dog and to discover a mountain lake located at an altitude of 2300 metres.
Duration: approximately 1.30 hours
Difficulty level: easy to moderate
Distance: 1.5 km
Start at the car park in the Cubil area, where you will find the signs that will take you through the forest to the lake. As the climb is not very difficult, you can observe nature while your dog enjoys discovering an environment different from his own. Once you reach Primer de Pessons lake, you can stop with your dog at the refuge’s restaurant. To go back down, you can go back down the same way you came up or return along the forest track. If you are up for it, a good option is to reach the other lakes of Pessons, although from here the route is somewhat harder.

Inter-parish path from Prats to Engolasters

This route is much longer, but has hardly any gradient. You will enjoy an accessible trail that has it all: Romanesque churches, breathtaking views, forest and rest points.
Duration: 4 hours
Difficulty: easy
Distance: 11.8 km
It is called inter-parish because it crosses Canillo, Encamp and Escaldes. As Els Llacs Mountain Apartments is in Canillo, we recommend you start here from the church of Sant Miquel de Prats to get to Sant Miquel d’Engolasters. Although it is not difficult at all, because you will hardly notice the 200 metres of difference in altitude, you should plan to walk 4 hours with your dog on the way there and 4 more on the way back. In addition, of course, you should bring enough water and food for everyone. In this article you will find tips for hiking with your dog in the mountains.

The Comapedrosa interpretative circuit

This circular hike is ideal for the whole family, as it is highly recommended for the youngest members of the family. It is located in the Comapedrosa Natural Park, in the parish of La Massana.
Duration: 1.30 hours
Difficulty: easy
Distance: 1.2 km
On this walk you will follow 10 panels that will help you to get to know nature at close quarters, to identify the environment and the terrain. While you follow the indications, your pet will also enjoy an outdoor excursion. It starts at the picnic area of the Pollós river and ends at the Arinsal dam.
